John Maassen

Partner

John joined Cooper Rapley in 1989 and was made a partner in 1991. He is a leading practitioner in resource management, environmental law and local government law. Acting for local authorities for more than 20 years, John's experience is extensive. He has appeared as an advocate in the District Court, Environment Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.

With a passion for professional development, John has run seminars for the New Zealand Planning Institute and written articles for their industry magazine - NZ Planning Quarterly. He has also run seminars for the Ministry for the Environment.

John's professional memberships include the Associate Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AAMINZ), the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI), and the Resource Management Law Association of New Zealand (RMLA).
